Scientist and explorer Jacques Cousteau looks particularly jaunty in his red cap in this wonderful portrait by Lisel Ashlock.
Learn By The Moon, Love By The Stars: 6th Chakra: Third Eye
The Sanskrit word Ajna means to “perceive” or “to know” and also “to control”. Our physical eyes are the tools which we preceive tangibles, while the 6th Chakra, the Third Eye, above and between the eyebrows, offers us the ability to use our intuition for things that we have no evidence of. In everyday terms we talk about “hunches” or when we just “know” things we cannot rationalize. Often we choose to be blind to the potential illuminated by our Third Eye. The symbol of this chakra is the two petaled lotus, with wings on either side of the circle which is within a downward pointing triangle. The petals are like our two eyes, on each side of the Third Eye; the two sides of the brain working in harmony or wings transcending physical limitations and the two worlds of reality - manifest and unmanifest. The non-physical nature of this chakra is represented by light. In the physical sense light hits the eyes and is translated into images.
Chakra Characteristics:
If the chakra is too open or spins too fast: highly logical, dogmatic, authoritarian, arrogant
If the chakra is blocked or spins slow or not at all: undisciplined, fears success, tendency toward schizophrenia, sets sights too low
If the chakra is balanced and maintains an equal vibrational flow: charismatic, highly intuitive, not attached to material things, may experience unusual phenomena
